Upstream

ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL) represents the company’s presence in Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas industry. We have delivered more than 600 million barrels of cumulative crude oil production from Cepu Block through safe, reliable, and efficient production operations.

Cepu Block

The Cepu Block PSC was signed on September 17, 2005, by ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL), PT Pertamina EP Cepu, and four local government companies. EMCL serves as an operator for the Cepu block in East Java.

Banyu Urip

The Banyu Urip project, the first in the Cepu Block, develops an oil field discovered in 2001 with about 450 million barrels of oil. Today, due to excellent performance and our technical assessments, the oil estimate has more than doubled to 1 billion barrels.

In 2011, EMCL discovered the Kedung Keris oil field and began production by the end of 2019, ahead of schedule. Located approximately 15 km from the Banyu Urip field, Kedung Keris, as per its development plan, holds a substantial oil reserve of about 20 million barrels and can produce up to 10,000 barrels daily.
